Fred, That was just the way it turned out. I could tell when I cut and drilled that the dye did not penetrate too deeply.

A little to curvey for my simple taste,
but you did a real fine job on the turnings.
Never cut starlite before, how was it to turn?

Not too bad to turn, easier than Inlace I thought. Did not seem as brittle.

Ok Here is the newbie showing his ignorance. Dyed before turning not as a finish effect. I like it more and more. I have some box elder that may be seeing that this weekend.
