Seems All I can find about the new padded flat rate envelope is that its $4.95 I just want to know details on how thick it can be.I have had a few of the standard flat rate envelopes come back from the post office in the last two weeks becuase they are to thick. One was only 7/8" thick the other was 1-3/4" but I have shipped thousands of these up to this date. Its funny that I get the standard "FRE" filled to the max all odd shaped tapped to the max,but my nice perfect square packages come back,HMM.Anyone that can help with how these padded ones are being used, are you just using the flat rate shipping option through paypal or do I need to go to the post office until they get the padded option in the software???Thanks everyoen,Victor

Check with paypal, they might have some agreement witht he post office. They used to send large FRB for the medium FRB price. I told you how I'm using the padded envelopes and have had no complaints from USPS. A couple of other options to look into depending on weight and how far it's going is the new regional flat rate boxes (A and B). They are sometimes cheaper if you substitute them for a medium flat rate box for shipments in the same postal zone you are in.

Why not start using the small flat rate box and be done with it!

Here is something directly from the USPS website:

Note: Turning a flat envelope into a small "box" shape by including bulky items is a method of enlarging the dimensions and is not an acceptable use of the Flat Rate envelopes.

I hope I don't jinx myself, but I have had no issues using the flat rate envelope for sending out blanks. As for padded envelpoes, I use them for smaller orders, weigh them and use a PayPal mailing/shipping label. So far (knock on wood) things work for me.

Victor -- My coffee supplier sends me 2 bags of coffee stuffed in a large flat rate envelope every couple weeks. You can imagine what it might look like. Frankly I don't know how he gets the two bags in as it appears the envelope is about to split open... I have no idea why they don't just use a small flat rate box, but as long as I'm getting my coffee I'm happy. Apparently USPS has no problem with it either.
