Hello to all. My name is Jeff, I have been lurking for a month or so and thought it about time I introduced myself and thanked contributors for the articles that have helped me to get started with pens turning. I have also spent a fair bit of time researching various internet sites, Youtube etc.
I have been collecting fountain pens for just over a year now, the collection has grown considerably. To advance my interest I thought it might be a challenge to have a go at making a few pens; I have not used a lathe since my schooldays which would have been at least 45 years ago. Research was definitely needed!
A couple of months ago I bought a small Jet variable speed lathe, a bunch of tools, tooling etc. and have had some great fun setting it all up and making pens in a corner of the workshop. Theres still a long way to go and a lot to learn but progress is quite encouraging with a few pens now finished. The next job is to design and make some suitable pen cases to hold the finished pens. I look forward to spending a bit more time here in the future.
With best regards,
Jeff
