I picked up my new JET lathe yesterday. I went to the Wood show over the weekend and a store had the old model for $179, but they were sold out of the ones they brought for the show. I called the showroom the next day and purchased one over the phone. I went to pick it up yesterday and they gave me the new indexing lathe for the same price. I will say that I like the indexing feature on the Rikon better though, but for the price I can't argue. It is a huge improvement over the Craftsman pen lathe I was using in my garage.

Now that's good customer service. I like my jet mini, even though it doesn't have the VR function. Now it's going to become my buffing center, until my "apprentice" starts turning.

I'll be your apprentice, just send the lathe to 5745,,,,,,,, OK you got me, I'm just looking for one of your left over lathes. Now that you are all upgrading. Throw a guy a bone gang.

I can't wait till I get a new one. [:)]

Don't worry, Anthony. If you work hard and save you lira' one day you will not have to buy used lathes anymore! [:D][;)][:D]

I was using a Craftsman pen lathe. I was afraid to turn too many pens on that thing as I was afraid it wouldn't hold up to the abuse. I was using my brothers JET at his shop for most of last year and decided it was time for my own true mini.
