new lathe, new tools, new man

so got my new lathe up and running, original thread and got my new carbide tipped turning tools, and had a busy night.

the lathe runs like a charm, what a dream to turn on a bigger machine, my little lathe felt like it was running full out to hit 2000 rpm, this doesnèt break a sweat. so first job was to turn a new handle, have to turn another one still so will take some more time on that one i think. turned a pen in record time, elm burl of all things. then tried some acrylics, didn't work as well on that but have to play around some more, then a couple pieces of walnut.

want to thank peter again (wood-of-1kind) for the great quality tools.

i'm probably missing so much info here but a little tired now. so any questions please ask.

they are chalk holders. they seem to be a hit this time of year. i get them from william wood write. here in canada. i'd imagine most suppliers have some form of it

Those are really nice. A quick search shows that Penn State has them in chrome, gold, and gun metal. I'm going to make a few for my buddies who play darts (cricket) on Thursday nights.

Nice posting here Marc and the tool looks good along with your turned chalk holders. Try to put a ferrule on your next tool since it will provide more strength. I use 1" OD copper piping to make mine or else you can buy a few made out of brass from "Lee Valley" Jewels.

thanks peter, there is a ferrule, i had to look again myself, its copper on walnut. surprisingly the same color
