just turned one of the "new" chalk holder kits last night, been wanting to do something like that for a while but i think the kit just came out, don't scold me if i'm wrong on that but my supplier just started offering it and i checked out one of the U.S. suppliers and they are listing it as new.
great kit and super easy to turn and assemble. might even be a great idea for any one that has a child that wants to make something special for a teacher but isn't ready to turn a pen yet, its a one piece body with only 3 components to assemble. the tip, clip, and end "cap" i'll call it a cap but it has a hole in the center so you can push the chalk through.
