Hey guys and gals. I'm rather new to woodturning. I have a whopping 3 pens under my belt. I look forward to learning as much as I can from this great resource.

Jake, Welcome, this is the place to be. 3 pens isn't bad at all. In no time you will be doing a segmented-feather casted-kitless-non postable baron....or something like it.

Welcome from southern California!

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42446

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome y'all!

Longfellow: that is some beautiful wood! What is it?

Wood128: I surf Sunset beach when it's not too crowded, I met my wife when she lived on the island, and I proposed to her on the beach there. I also often wish I lived in Cocoa instead of this side of the state.
