I have had the privilege of providing some mentoring to a young man from our church, Christopher Reid, who approached me about 18 months ago with a desire to learn wood-turning.

A couple of lessons and a ton of passion and he is well on his way. His website is http://bowlandpen.com/ ... stop by and give him some encouragement, I know he would be excited to hear from you.

Last Sunday, he showed me small box he made from an old chair leg. I was amazed at his creativity! It's on his website with a pictorial of how he made it.

His brother filmed him making a pen and posted the short, time-lapse video on his website and can be viewed here. http://www.vimeo.com/15010969

He has mastered the Skew and CA finish after one lesson. It is truly a pleasure to see him grow and I look forward to his development as an artist. He will go far.

very well done, good video, however:
-tell him not to hold the blank in his hands when squaring the ends with the mill! many turners on this web sites can attest how this can easily gauge your hand, not to mention stain the blank with blood!!
-wear gloves when applying CA! you risk to spens the next hour separating a folded paper towel from your index DAMHIKT.
