Mark, definitely consider adding the cannister filter to your new DC system. Also, read up on the baffle design developed by Phil Thien as it will assist in keeping your filter a heck of a lot cleaner ... and the price is about right as you make it yourself!

We converted our 2hp dust collector to a 0.5 micron canister back when HF was selling them. It made a HUGE difference.
