If you come to the site via the front page, keep reading. If you always visit through a bookmark to a different part of the site like New Posts, this matters not to you.

The front page "Recent Threads" box has never included threads from the classifieds. If you would like to see those, you can add a "Recent Classifieds Threads" to your view of the front page.

Go to your UserCP, and find "Group Memberships" on the left hand navigation sidebar. Click on that link, then join the group "Marketplace". The next time you visit the front page, you'll see the recent classifieds threads box in the center pane below the usual recent threads box. If you don't want to see it, go back to the group memberships tab in your UserCP and leave that group.

Thanks for the option! I always start out at the home page and regularly hit home to come back to it after reading through a thread. This is a great way to view/hide those additional threads.

Just a reminder that the Marketplace feed is available for the front page. Follow the instructions in the first post in this thread to see it. Just a couple clicks is all it takes.

I noticed last night that only about 100 members subscribe to the Marketplace feed which is available for the front page. If you'd like to see posts from the marketplace forums on your front page, follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.

Thanks for adding the marketplace feed.

Is there a way to exclude some forums from home page, or possibly to exclude them from ever being visible to me unless I specifically click on the forum name?

It's not possible to exclude them from the home page, but you can exclude them from your "Get New Posts" feed. To do that, go to your UserCP in the Edit Options section and scroll down to the Miscellaneous Options section. In there you'll find the Exclude Forums box. Control-Click on as many as you want to exclude.
