Since I bought it used a few years ago, my la200 has performed well. Lately I noticed that pieces were coming out out of round. I ordered new bearings for the headstock and will install them tonight. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Seeing as it came with the bed extension, nova chuck, Sorby tools including a very nice bowl gouge, and has never had any problems before, I guess I definately got my 200.00 worth out of her!
So until I save enough for my big lathe.......:)

I've been reading so much about out of round problems lately, I'm perplexed. I just can't imagine ball bearings being so bad that you can get out of round objects! I'd guess the sound would be horrible, and the balls would just about be ready to fall out before that happened. They just don't fail that badly. I'm guessing it's something else.

In my humble opinion, at least 99% of out-of-round problems are operator problems, usually applying too much pressure on the mandrel. This causes the mandrel to bend in the shape of a jump rope. It is a big reason that so many penturners change to TBC.
