At least not too close to a car, Fortunatly the window I broke was in my Ford 2003 Windstar,
Not my wife new Saturn Vue , I moved my van and my daughters car away fro the fence to clean up the weed and grass, then proceeded to go around the porch and flower garden, somewhere along the line I found a rock just big enough to shatter the passenger side sliding door window, to replace it with the "privacy glass it had is just over 500.00 just plain old tinted glass is a tad over 300.00 of course all of the Auto recyclers are closed for the long week end. But I found a plain tinted one in Yipsallanti Michigan for 45.00 plus shipping, but they also are closed until Monday.I think I can get it limo tinted for about 30.00 at a local shop, William Young recently did the same thing on his vehicle and I thought geez that'll never happen to me. Now I finally feel like a real McNairy County Red Neck I used a whole roll of scotch shipping tape to tape up both sides of the window. Damn I feel stupid!!!

There are thousands of stories like yours and Williams. Sadly there are just as many stories of where folks have been seriously injured and even killed by the monofiliment line breaking off and impaling then. This stuff is dangerous enough to your favorite plants, but few people think it can hurt them. Just wait till the line autofeeds and wraps around one's ankle ... amputations have occurred, rare, but it has happened. The number one injury is to the operators eye's and face. :eek:

I have converted all my weedwackers to a blade instead of the line. The metal is soft and wears off, there is NO chance of a mis-feed, and it is far easier to replace than the line. Also, it is better controlled and cuts a perfect edge every time.

BTW, if there is a LESCO Garden Center nearby, they sell cartons of the blades (25 or so) For about the same price as four from the hardware store. LESCO chemicals are far superior to over the counter products. Their product line is geared towards golf courses and professional landscaping so they have to be top of the line.

Be careful of those weedwackers as they are killers ... especially when you get near one of SWMBO's favorite flower. The blade can save your hide here, dudes! :smile-big:
 
Man, that sucks. I hate my weed wacker and I have the plastic blades on it. Stupid thing wings plant material into my face at alarming speeds, lol.

I didn't have any actually the gorilla tape was my first choice but afraid to drive to town to get a roll, my wife used all my duct tape to patch up her 30 hoses in the garden, see the gorilla tape is kind of almost black and it would've looked better than that silly silver stuff!!!
 
I own a glass shop and would like to give a little advice. Be careful with the used glass, the part number for that glass say it has attachments. In my experience with used glass is sometimes they just cut it out and ruin the rubber moulding that goes around the glass. The reason for the high price is it is a net priced part in my area, which usually means they didnt make alot of that glass so it keeps the price high and the older it gets the harder it will be to get it.
 
Afew years ago I got a call from my wife while I was at work, she told m someone had broken into the garage and stolen the lawnmower. The first thing I asked was check and make sure they got the weedeater too. It was my lucky day they had nabbed it. I still hope it gave them as problem as it did me.

Reason I always use safety glasses and lately thinking seriously about using the face shield from the shop.. some of that stuff hurts.

Occasionally I do use a face shield but it's a pain in the neck to find it sometimes (keeps growing legs). I do have glasses on normally. Of course I can't wear long sleeves because I don't feel like passing out in the heat, lol.
