Just got a package containing my reward for backing a gesture sensor on kickstarter a while back. I also got some sample code files to look over and play with. Shown with the Arduino UNO that I'm going to use with these.

Well, yes, you certainly have some . . . . . . ummmm . . . . . . . . stuff there. Yes you do! What it does, I have no idea:confused:.

So what does a gesture sensor do exactly? Or is that something you have to design? It see's a gesture, and you program a response?

That is cool, and if someone is into electronics, it looks pretty interesting. It's a bit over my head though. I get the concept, but I couldn't make anything from it.

Let us know what you're going to do with it. I'd like to see what people could do with it.

A keep seeing the word 'arduino', but I don't have a clue what it means. I have a funny feeling that this means that I am old.

You whippersnappers with your strange gizmos...
No, it can't be that because I have no idea what that is either. And I'm not old. It just means we're not Nerds.

Put simply, it's a computer that you load a program on to from another "real" computer that controls inputs and outputs (IF the button is pressed THEN blink the light 3 times). I figured that there won't be many people who are into this on a penturning site, but y'all are my friends so I thought I would share it.

Don't take my post the wrong way. I'm pretty jealous of people with the skills to make those gizmos.

As soon as I actually make something. I'm waiting for some parts in the mail. Most of my progress so far is with the code, and that isn't so exciting for show and tell.

That looks really neat! I've been wanting to try out the Arduino, but I'm probably one new hobby away from getting kicked out of the house.

The gesture sensors are proving to be a little more difficult to figure out, but I'll get it soon. In the meantime I made a motion alarm! The PIR sensor detects motion and then the LED lights alternate red and blue like police lights, and the speaker plays an alarm sound. I wanted to post a video but couldn't figure out how.

Took long enough, but I finally set up youtube. Here is the motion detector:

The parts for my car project are taking forever to get here, but I'll keep you updated as I work on that.

.I reckon it is way cool, but, can you write with it? Are refill cartridges easy to obtain?
