I have to make some goblets. This is the shape I decided on.

Want your opinion as to shape, flow, proportions, etc.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Will be looking back later tonight.

In my opinion; the flow is good. The cup needs to be a bit larger than the base, so maybe a little bigger on the cup and just slightly smaller on the base.

I agree on both earlier posts.

Best way is to look for REAL goblets (crystal/glass) and use those as a pattern. Those usually have time tested shape and forms.

Ok folks. First Thank you very much for your comments. Since I had to get out to work, I didn't really give you all the information.

1. I was looking for a flute style cup. I don't think the transition is smooth enough for that. I guess if I had to define a style it would be a little danish modern from the 50's/60's.

2. I, believe that the stem is a little thick. That it would flow better if it was thinner.

I also forgot to give you the dimentions.......necessary ingredient.

Here it is:

Height 1-1/8", diameter of cup 1/2" with 1/16" wall thickness, base diameter 9/16", base thickness 1/16", Stem diameter 5/32" at the smallest spot.

Won't sit on a Tack, but it will set nicely on a 16 penny nail! And, it IS Red Oak!

Here's another picture next to a dime!
