I removed my old exterior door (rotted). The new (ore-hung) one fits the opening on the sides but not the top . The brick molding on top of the door is on top of the drip edge instead of fitting inside like on the sides . I have aluminum siding on the outside. There is some sort of dripedge looking thing along the sides of the aluminum siding. As mentioned-the brick mold on the sides fit inside this. Any help would be appreciated. I can attached a picture of the rough opening if need be..

Are you able to slide it in from the inside of the house and but it up against the exterior siding? I would not remove anything from the outside unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. If necessary you may have to remove the threshold from the new door and cut it down a little. Use a straight edge on that to guide you saw.

If the door is wood and the sweeps on the bottom of the door can be removed then replaced. You can cut some off the bottom of the door and chisel some wood out of the top side of the hinge slots to move the door down. Or cut some off of the top of the door. Just be sure to seal it up to keep moisture out.

Are you installing from the interior of the house? Our door, when we have had to take it off to bring stuff in or take stuff out will only fit is installed from the inside.

I think I got it. I took off the dripedge at the top of the door and it fit right in. The sides still are not fitting tight. I think it is hitting the moulding on the sides of the aluminum siding.
