A former customer brought this pen to me this past weekend. I don't recognize which kit is and it is not one I made. He said he didn't remember who he bought it from and asked if I might be able to repair it. I told him I'd see what I could do. Can anyone identify this kit?
The plastic threads have broken off the nib. It appears to be the same size as a Smitty's Caballero fountain pen but the threads in the plastic nib coupler don't match, but the tube ID seems to be the same. I tried knocking it out with a transfer punch but no luck. Who ever made the pen must have glued it in.
Before I try drilling it out to replace with Caballero parts, does any one have any suggestions for removing the coupler section?

As John Said; it is indeed a tycoon. And the FP is "In Stock" If this is a variation of the Baron, the nib barrel end cap (Lower cap) should unscrew. Does the nib section unscrew? That would be the only way to refill the FP. If so, use a punch to punch out the (Lower cap). You should then be able to punch out the (Coupler) and remove the (Coupler Band). I have done this on occasion to the centerband. But if glued, may not be possible. If the nib section unscrews, Insert a narrow knife blade / rat tail file / triangle file inside the tube and score the inside of the black coupler until it can be peeled out of the tube.

Thank you John and Randy for identifying the kit.
Randy, it is definitely glued in. I tried a punch and hammer for over 10 minutes and it did not budge.
I'll contact PSI and see if I can get just the plastic inserts or if I have to purchase a complete kit and then contact the customer with the cost and see if he wants me to continue before I try removing the coupler by destroying it.

This is the first time I've seen a problem with the delrin inserts but have wondered it that wouldn't be a weak spot. Is this type of thing common? I'm just starting doing some pens like this and may stay away from delrin thread inserts if I need to.

I have been making pens since 2009, and I have made several of this style of roller ball pens and have only had to repair a couple of them. The first one that was returned was one I made for my brother in law, When I gifted him the pen, I explained to him not to over tighten the cap because it would strip out the threads. 2 weeks later he called to tell me that he messed it up by over tightening the cap. I replaced the threaded insert twice at no charge, the 3rd time I charged him the price of the kit and finally got his attention. I have been using a junior gent roller all for several years with no problem. When you screw on the cap until it stops then it is tight enough. I never glue the threaded insert in the tube. The second pen with this problem, the guy decided to take the pen apart just to see how it was made. Instead of unscrew ing the cap, he pulled it off and broke the insert.

Called PSI this morning to inquire about purchasing the inserts and was told that since did not purchase the original kit, they could not sell me just the inserts, that I would have to buy the complete kit. My customer had already told me that would be fine with him, so I purchased one and it's on it's way.
I finally was able to knock the coupler out of the brass tube without damaging anything. As soon as the kit gets here, I can reassemble everything.
