Need recommendation for pencil kit

I got an inquiry about mechanical pencil from a guy who bought an Amboyna Cigar pen from me this Christmas. This will be my first pencil if ever.

What kit can you recommend? I think the PF convertible is to "girly" so I am ruling that out.

CSUSA has a cigar pencil but only in Rhodium according to their catalog. PSI has Cigar pencil and also the Power Pencil that uses 2mm lead.

The plating on the PSI power pencil kit wears off under heavy use.It does not take very long,and I like the power pen very much. I asked one day if they would make these in a better plating, but got no answer.

the power pen and pencil were the first kit that i made.
about 8 months ago.
this is my set that i made for myself.
i using them everyday and have not noticed any deterioration of the plating at all.
