I need a new toggle switch for my Jet Mini 1014VS. I was wondering if anyone knew the specific type of switch I need as navigating the JET and MIS websites for part information is useless at best.

Thanks

Jet has very good customer service... I've had problems with my tail stock spindle thread screw and have replaced it twice... last time I had problems, called Jet and explained the problem and they sent a whole new spindle and quill... no questions asked.. and a few months back, bought a new set of bearings for the head stock, but didn't get around to putting them in for about 6 months... discovered they sent the wrong size, called them and immediately got a new set of right size... when I asked about sending the other bearings (wrong sized ones) back, they said "oh just keep them, don't worry about it"

Assuming you have same Jet mini I have, this is link to their parts

My switch is a JML-65.

Call jet, I did and they sent a switch the next day. The switch is the weakest part of there lathe. I have mine pluged into a power strip to save on the switch. I have 3 power strips with lathe, light and dust collector in each one close at hand. Makes it so easy to control them.

Ken,
I have an older 1014, but think they are the same switch...
If you have access to a Borg or an electrical supply house, I think Steve might be right... get one there if JET doesn't come through for you. I did for my dust collector from HF. Same basic switch, but seems to be much stronger...

Being impatient I didn't want to wait, so put spade ending from a closed box electrical switch that I bought at Home Depot. Heavy duty and no more problems. The spade clips let me leave the variable speed box so it would accept the real one if I ever feel inclined to change it. I'm on my third switch, and haven't had any problems since I changed to the Home Depot heavier duty switch. I had built a wood stand for my lathe and just screwed the switch to the wood stand. It works for me.

I replaced mine with one from the BORG as well. I splurged on the dust/moisture resistant switch (spent the extra quarter). The switch seems much more reliable and I haven't had a single problem since.

I didn't know they were different switches... after I changed the motor on my 1014 and took the switch apart, I haven't had any problem with it (YET!). I'm thinking now that it may have been the switch and not the motor. I still have the motor and need to test to see if it's still good.

I'm having more trouble with the switch on my Delta table saw right now... I've taken it apart and cleaned it twice so far... it is jammed in the on position... I'm going to follow advice from here and put a heavier switch on it and outside the housing.. it keeps getting sawdust in the switch even though there's a cover over the switch.

I am on my third switch but it is easy to change.

Thats very understandable. I can see the lathe being turned on and off a couple dozen times on a single pen turning. And the more complex the piece, the more that number increases.
