I have an I phone 4s and received up-date 8.4.1 of which I installed. Returned to my phone and it was off. Cannot turn it on. It doesn`t respond to anything.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Two simple things to check and then I'm out of my league....be sure it's on a charger in case it ran out of battery juice. After that whenever mine does anything weird I try a hard reset. Press down both the home (circle at bottom) and the button you turn the phone off with at the same time. Hold it until the apple appears (10-15 seconds maybe).

Hope it helps!

You have to take an iPhone apart to replace battery. There is not door on iPhone, I would call Apple support and ask them or if you have an Apple store near by take it in. Our Granddaughter has an 4S we don't update it because it is old and there is a history of issues with 4S and new IOS updates. It is just old technology. I would try to make sure battery is full charged. and try the hard reset again.

Thanks Tom. Old does seem to me to be the problem.
Battery is charged to about 1/2 charged according to I cloud. However still no
response.

Did someone say new phone:biggrin:

Physically take the battery out then put it back in. Worked for me.

Sounds like you need to make a trip to Atlanta to the Apple store. The have techs who can diagnose problems like you describe.

I don't have an iPhone, but I had a similar problem with my iPod Touch (which is an iPhone without the phone function). The solution for me was to turn it off completely, and then reboot. To turn it off, simultaneously press and hold the button on the face and the button on the right side of the top edge. After a few seconds, it should go into shutdown mode. Then, repeat the process to reboot.

When I had my problem, the tech at the Apple store said that it's a good idea to occasionally force a total shutdown and then reboot. Apparently, like any computer, remnants of software can be left running in the background chewing up both processor time and memory. Forcing a shutdown and reboot cleans out that clutter and gets them running normally again.
