Need help with new lathe
I just got a like new used metal lathe Speedway Series # ML710/03911 great deal. Same as the Homier 7 x 12 mini lathe.
I'm happy with it looks like a nice lathe. Has any one set up a wood tool rest and how would you go about it. I tried to fabricate one. I clamped a piece of angle iron to the tool post. It works but not much adjustment I had to bend it and then it still doesn't work to well. Is there an attachment that you could buy or a better way to fabricate one. Some one had to do this.
Also I have a 3 & 4 jaw chuck I don't really like it. It is pretty large and when turning you get pretty close to it and I could see it being a finger eater. I would like to get a mandrel to go into the morse taper headstock but all the mandrels I've seen are for mt-1 & mt-2. The headstock is mt-3 I do have a live center on the tail stock and the tail stock is mt-2.
I will take any help I can get please.
Thanks
Bruce
