I am looking into buying the Nova G3 chuck both for pen turning and Bowl turning and noticed these two chucks can some one tell me the difference please?

Delta Industrial 46-461 Reversible Nova G3-D Woodturning Chuck Vs. regular Nova G3.

The documents that came with my G3-D, say the Delta version has a set-screw to allow it to safely be run in reverse.

And that is pretty much it with the extra that Delta also is in 8 tpi to 1"

So if your lathe goes in reverse. get the Delta.
If it doesn't and your spindle is in something other than 8 in 1 get the G3 then purchase the correct insert.

The reverse can be a bit tricky -- If you lathe does not have a flat place for the set screw (grubb screw) to set into, it will tend to mess with the threads on the lathe (unless they are hardened - and then it messes with shearing the end of the screw).

Nova makes good chucks -- all have jaws that interchange (except a few specific to the great big titan).
