Need a blank with an education type theme

I have an order for a pen for a young lady who just earned her masters in education. I really would like to get a lasered inlayed blank, but I am not being successful in my hunt for the "perfect" blank. I know Contance does one with an apple, but that is a bit juvenile for this particular person.

So does anyone have any ideas where I can find a blank dealing with education, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Walmart had some nice graduation hats/diploma stickers in their scrapbook section. I have a package that I was going to cast in grad pens sometime, but never had a chance yet.

You could get a package of them and turn the wood a shade under, apply the sticker and give it a good CA finish.

OR just turn a nice wooden pen. It would be a keepsake even if it didnt have a grad thing on it.

Great suggestions all. Thank you! I thought about the decal idea, but haven't been very successful with past attempts, but with practice, you can only get better.

I suggested a really nice roller ball such as a jr gent with a really nice wood, but I was asked to come up with something other than that if possible.

I've also had an offer of doing something with a cnc on a blank which is I think is a great idea. Just need to figure out what type of design I'll need. That will be the customer's call, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Remember the daughter just got a Master's degree.

For what it is worth, I awarded a daughter in law a specialized "teacher's pen" for her first teaching assignment after her graduation. She is now a music/choir teacher at a junior high school, so I went with that theme. As per an earlier suggestion about decal applications, I have to agree; this is an opportunity to denote the specific field of education. According to my DIL, she uses that pen every class day for general noting and grading papers. Just a suggestion.

What about a polymere clay formation? Or a casting of deploma parchment around a tube with a scroll and ribbon look in clear PR or aluminite?

Why does it need a theme? She'll treasure a beautiful pen and remember the reason she received it each time she uses it.
