PSI SOLID DARK blue...
Hi Don,
If you are still looking for a suitable blue, Penn State Industries has a solid blue in their selection of 'Solid Color Acrylic Pen Blanks'. The part number for the DARK blue is WXSAC04.
The only issues with the blanks may be:
a) you have to buy a 4-pack. But if you can use that many or more, the price is very reasonable-- $7.95/pk so it makes them less than $2.00 a piece.
b) unless the newer lots are sized better than the previous one I've purchased (I've ordered several of the colors over the last few years), the sizes have been very random with some under sized as much as almost 1/8" on one dimension (example one that I still have is .66" x .80"). If you are using them for smaller kit pens, the size will be OK, but if you want them for larger kit pens or non-kit pens, they may be too small.
I question whether the sample they have on their website is an actual blank, but I think it's pretty close to the actual color. If you want a look at the actual blank color on a pen, here is a link to a white pen I made with a blue stripe (I made it as a Penn State University (football) pen for my son). Go to this link, then scroll down to the PSU pen:
JEB's Pens / Misc Items.
Being sandwiched between the white (which is also the white from the same series of solid color blanks), the blue shows up a little lighter, but I think you can get an idea of the shade of blue that it is to see if it's the shade you want.
Hope this helps!
John
