I cut some amazing hard maple this afternoon. It was from a huge hard maple that blew over in the high wind we had yesterday. This one section had a huge lightning strike wound running down it and I could see the color was special. I got into a small crotch section and :D:D:D:D:D. As I have found in other lightning strike wood, the cracks are everywhere. I guess several thousand volts will do that, but what colors!!! I just had to share a picture, hope I get about a dozen blanks from this. Can't tell where all the cracks are yet.

Wow, I don't think I'd want to cut that up...looks too pretty at that size! I think I'd rather keep that whole and use it for part of a table.
