From reading a recent post and if anyone has ever wondered I thought I would try and explain my nickname. I work in a Papermill. I just celebrated my 40th year here. While the work can be hard ( I tell my co-workers I am one bad day from retiring) it does have its perks. We make tissue and I get all types of paper toweling that I use in my pen making for free. Back in 1982 when I started all employees were issued an employee number. Most were three digits. Mine was number 7. Actually 007. My co-workers started calling me seven. I actually call my pen business Studio Seven. So fast forward 15 years. Another buy out and another new owner. The new owners informed us that they needed to simplify our employee numbers and I went from "7" to "Ten million sixty-seven thousand and two" (10067002). My real name is Duane. You can call me Duane or Seven or Ten million sixty-seven thousand and two. Now you know.

Seven

Very cool, thanks for sharing and 40 years with one company is a great accomplishment.

Mine is boring in comparison. I live in and love the United States and it has given my family and I a lot but I also am proud of where I come from and where my family lives. It can be a crazy and backwards place so I spelled it backwards.

Hope to hear of other name origins.

My dad always called me TD. I have no idea how that came about. You'd think it could be short for Todd, but it's actually 2 syllables instead of one so it only looks shorter. The rest of it you can see in my avatar, which was already in use elsewhere online and in my email address. Actually, that's the sorcerer's apprentice, but close enough, right?

Wow what fun! After seeing those I think I made mine just too easy to figure out. Egnald is D Lange spelled backwards. My best friend's dad (and my electronics professor in college) gave me the nickname Terramycin - I guess that's better than Oxytetracycline - a lot easier to say too!

I guess my screen name should be obvious... I live in Tellico Plains and do wood turning... it's a change from the old name of Keepsakesinwood... Jeff changed the name for me, but dropped the "S" off the end of the name... not a problem for me.

I actually took the name from my stepson's photo web site... he used Tellico Images and I liked the sound of it.
I

Mine is so mundane - my last name, initials and the day of the month I was born. Boring, I know but easy for me to remember now that I've turned 77 (on the 17th, of course). It is also my email address on my two main accounts. ;)

You mean it should be TellicoTurnings??

You should go to your profile and change it!

Oh my this topic has been done a few times and I remember some were quite interesting. Mine is somewhat simple. Most people know me here and know I am a scrollsaw artisan at the core of my hobbies. I have been doing shows for over 35 years. When I first started I had a few regular customers who would stop by my booth and I would hear them say Oh here is the clockman. Clocks were and still are a big portion of what I make. So when I got on this fandangled video box called a computer I took on the name of JTTHECLOCKMAN and it stuck. My business name is JT'S Creative Woodworking. J.T. being my initials.

Mine is pretty straight forward.
When I started into forums, IAP was one of my first, I tried to keep it simple and use my first name. I thought I had a unique spelling.

I've kept it across all platforms forums I can. So if you see a darrin1200, odds are, it's me.

I wanted a name with "pen" in it. That's all. Members here have tried to find a deeper meaning, such as "pen turning cures any ailment." Nice thoughts, but I would be lying if I said that there is some hidden significance.

If you find another "penicillin" elsewhere, it isn't me. I use different names on different websites. That way, I avoid guilt by association ... with myself. :-o

What a fun and interesting thread!

My name is one which I use on many forums. It started way, way back when I began racing motorcycles. I felt very slow compared to the top guys and when describing my progress one day to an inquirer, I answered 'painfully slow'. I guess it kind of stuck.

Fast forward to just before my (forced) retirement from racing, I was one of those fast guys. I actually won a championship in 2015 but never saw any reason to change my forum name so here we are.
