I'm hoping someone can help me id wood that I found at a flea market. Pretty stiff but I don't want to sell pens and such without knowing what they are made of. Pretty yellow dust, tight grain, rich brown areas and streaks. Thanks.

Looks like Osage Orange or perhaps Pernambuco.

My first thought was Osage Orange. Could be Chakte Viga, but more likely Osage.

My guess is Osage Orange as well.

Thanks for the opinions-I've worked with quite a bit of Osage Orange. None of it looked like this. Unless it's a different variety of OO this has much finer grain and more brown. OO darkens with exposure but this has a lot of brown as turned.

Pernambuco, maybe. Closest reference I've seen so far. Have you turned it, and was the dust fairly bright yellow/orange?

I've turned one pen Pernambuco. Don't remember what the shavings looked like.
