My Latest Pentel Pencil Conversion

There are a lot of us turners out there making pens these days from kits. I make some also, but my main interest is to make or re-make something that doesn't come with assembly instructions. I started converting the famous Pentel Mechanical Pencil that comes with a plain plastic sleeve into something you just can't buy in a store. This one features a cross cut blank from quarter-sawn Oak with a CA finish.
I'm posting 3 photos of the pencil to show how different it looks from different sides.

I don't use tubes. I do saturate the hole with thin CE before turning. When I get down to about 3/8 diameter I saturate the outside with the thin CA also. These 2 steps are especially important when turning the cross grain.
