Here are a few WIP photos of my latest bowl. It's made of pine. The outside is just about done, I sanded it to 800 grit and started applying WOP I have 3 or 4 coat on now. I have the bowl mounted to the glue block and I'm ready to start on the inside. All C &C ard welcome. All C & C welcome, thanks for looking.

Looking great. Be sure to take the time and show us a few pictures as you do the inside. Stop and grab a picture or two as you progress.

I am really liking your pine bowls. Just goes to show even the wood from the lumber company can hold some beauty. We as turners just have to find it.

Nice job Dan. You're doing so well with pine that when you get your hands on a block of hardwood it's going to be a breeze for you.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. I found that if I run my lathe at top speed, about 3800 RPM'S I get a nice smooth cut. Derrick I'm looking forward to doing a bowl with hardwood.

Dan, turning items larger than pens at high speeds could come apart and do real damage...to you.
There are recommended speeds for certain sized turnings.
Please be careful with this.

Real nice work - really like the form. And, frankly, I'm liking the look of pine these days. Gives a nice, kinda rustic look which will get a nice patina later. Gotta agree with Dan M that the speed is fast for a bowl. Fast is good, but there's a limit....

Thanks for the comments and advice. I did turn the majority of the inside and outside at about 1500 RPM'S and the smoothing cut which were very light at the higher speed
