My 15 year old son was hired to help clean this old property covered with junk. It also had several large piles of wood to burn. My GENIUS son noticed some of the wood as being different, so not knowing what it was, he collected this big pile of junky wood and put it in the van. When he got it home, he showed it to me........and the rest is history......one BIG PILE of absolutely gorgeous DESERT IRONWOOD!!!!!

I might just do that Ed. :-) It is way more than I will ever use. I don't know if I want it in my shop either....it is WAY TOO heavy to move around much.

If Bill says wood is gorgeous, you have never seen anything like it. I still have some Cocobolo he called "pretty good" which knocked my socks off!

Hey, Bill, nice to see you!

Well, I could do with a couple of son's doing that for me, I have none so that ain't possible however, I have a wife that every so often comes home with some logs in the back of the old wagon...!

Some people say, "geeezzz mate, you have trained her well...!"

I may indeed, I need my wife Merissa to help me all the time, through the years, she picked-up on things she didn't know existed so, I don't get so surprised when she comes home with some wood but, I treasure a lot more the excitement she has when, she comes home with some wood and while she is now capable to recognise lots of the woods, she always gets super excited with the possibility that she is bringing me something new, she knows how I appreciate that so, I can understand the appreciation you have from your son...!

Way to go.....!

Can I pay for some of that gorgeous stuff...???

Cheers
George

My Dad rescued a huge log of ironwood from Arizona, an dragged it home to Idaho years ago. I eventually took it to the local sawmill to get it slabbed. When I went to pick up those beautiful slabs, I was told to never, ever bring logs to them again! ;-)

Enjoy that new stash!

Scott.

Thanks for all the compliments guys (and maybe gals). If I decide to sell it, it will definitely be here. I've already consumed a 3/4" aggressive band saw blade cutting this up. It does not look like it will be bandsaw friendly.

I will be picking up another couple of blades next month, so I will let people know asap.

BTW.....it is good to be back (thanks Jeff and Scott)

A very sweet find.
And a well trained son.
It is interesting to observe the "Woodturning Bee's" hovering around the Honey Hole.
Be patient with them, It is symptomatic of the "Turners Syndrome"

Please add my name to the growing list of buyers of a small box full.

It is great that he found it, now he will be on the look out for more and other woods.
