Since my shop is now a small two car garage, I've had the need to put more of my tools on mobile bases. I have several on HTC type mobile bases and I bought two from HF several years ago. I put one under my planer stand while I was still in Ohio. Unlike the HTC type, you supply your own stretchers made of 2 by hardwood stock. They get the job done well enough, but I prefer the more expensive HTC type. However, I still had one HF in the box, and the HTC type wouldn't really work well for the stand I put my lathe on because of the leg stance. I would be standing on the front stretcher. So here is what I came up with. The test fit shows that I now have the toe room to stand close enough to the lathe.
And LOML wondered why I kept those old bed frames! A piece of good ol' angle iron always comes in handy! The 2 gray pieces are backed up by 2x2 Pine and the long stretcher in the back is Oak milled from the old headboard.
