This is my first proper pen. I did make pencil last week but that was a gentle introduction using a pre-made blank with the tube already included so I'm not counting that 😊.

It's made from English Elm burl with the cap stained blue. Finished with CA. Until I made this pen, and read the articles on finishing advice on this forum, I had no idea you could add a load of superglue to wood like this.

That's a good looking pen, and your first CA finish looks great . I can't remember how many I did before I got them looking that good. Well done.

Welcome to the addiction referred to as pen turning. Before long everyone you know will have a nice new pen ..or 2 or 3 .
But it's a good, healthy habit.
 
It really does look good. If you don't mind sharing, what did you use to stain the top? Nice rich color. Any additional detail - i.e. type, number of coats stain, drying time etc. - would be appreciated.
