My First out of the Resin-Saver mold

Finally broke down and bought the Resin-Saver mold, these are the results of the first batch that made it across the lathe::eek:
I don`t have the proper mix. Had a couple of blow outs.:mad: It certainly did not turn as well as Brooks803`s stuff. :biggrin:

BTW These are for from perfect I tried to hide the flaws.
The molds are great. Good as everyone has said. Good buy.

You might check the amount of activator you put in the resin. It does not require as much as the instructions say - and if you put that much in it makes the PR brittle. I've heard one can use as little as 4 drop per ounce when the instructions say 10 drops per ounce. Also, if you are curing the blanks in a toaster oven, get a thermometer and measure the temp in the oven - mine was waaaayyy more than what it said on the dial.

I think they look great. Keep up the good work and let us know your methods so helpful comments can be made.

Thanks Martin, I did in fact reduce the catalyst to 4 drops per oz. I will let you know how it does,but it will be next week. Life stuff you know:biggrin:
 
Looks nice! Are those graphics of your design?
i tend to use less catalyst than they say, too. 3-4 drops per ounce works
for me unless it is really cold and I'm not warming the resin. (unlikely)

If you chip a blank, just throw it back in the mold with more resin. Nobody
will be able to see it, even you.

Charlie thanks for the repour tip. I`m sure I will need it.

The graphics are not my design one is postage stamps, one is from a few watch parts and the other is a combat ribbon.
The flag mat is one I picked up at the Print shop that I work for.
Thanks again for the great service and I really like the molds.
