This is a cottonwood burl, with New Mexico pinon coffee grinds to fill in the holes and gaps, CA finish. Nobody told me how friggin' hard it is to turn burl, with the tools constantly catching in all the nooks and crannies!

Thanks for looking, and this newbie appreciates feedback.

Burl is more difficult to turn than straight grained wood, but as illustrated by your pen, the results are definitely worth the extra effort.

Nice job, I hope you find that burl pens are in far higher demand than plain wood pens like I did. yes they are often a real pain to get turned, it is part of what causes them to be more expensive. But nearly anyone can look at a burl and realize this is no ordinary piece of wood.

Beautiful piece of wood with a stunning finish too!! I also really like the kit / blank match too. Well done :good::good:
