My daughter, RoseMarie turned her first "biggie size" project - an ambrosia maple, natural edged vessel. With great teaching from one of our club members, RoseMarie was able to learn how to turn a natural edge bowl. The day started with a chain saw and a big chunk of green wood and after 3 visits the end product is beautiful. This will head back to Alabama with the start of college so now I need to make one to keep at home. The last picture is with Dave her instructor.

It's hard to beat the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that comes with successfully completing your first natural edge bowl with all the bark intact. The million dollar smile in the last picture says it all. Great job.

Hands down the best part of this is that HUGE smile on her face. That is what will be remembered for years to come.
Well done!

Hey y'all.

This is RoseMarie, Charlie's daughter. Thank you so much for all your comments and posts. This was such a fun project to take on. The only other bowl I had turned is a small coin dish, so this was a whole new side of turning for me. I also have found that because this was turned while still green, the vessel changes shape as it dries. Even after only a few days the overall shape is more oval and the chatoyance are starting to "raise", adding another level of texture to the vessel's walls.

Thanks again for all the comments and posts! :)

RoseMarie

Congrats Rose Marie! The bowl is beautiful, has great shape and gorgeous natural edge. Such great skills and talent. You should be proud and important is that you had fun turning it.
