I received an email yesterday from a someone looking to produce pens from historic wood related to the University of Michigan.
Here's the email.
I exchanged a few emails and received this additional info when I asked about quantities.
If you would like me to pass your name along to this person, let me know. He's looking for a link to your web site to see samples of your work.

I'm working on a project related to the University of Michigan and I'm looking for someone in Michigan (close to Ann Arbor preferable) who may be willing and able to produce a variety of wood pens...possibly in volume. I'm looking to produce heirloom pens from the California redwood benches installed for the 1927 dedication of Michigan Stadium.
Can you suggest any members of your organization with the capability to produce quantities of quality pens? Thanks for any help or direction.

I'm actually thinking about a Kickstarter campaign to judge public interest and to launch the project. I would do a minimum of a half dozen pens even if it doesn't reach the tipping point, but I hope/expect that it will. Beyond that, I could be looking at dozens. I have material (original benches from the stadium's 1927 dedication) to do several hundred...if demand warrants. Production capacity for a hand-turned pen will certainly be a factor...one that will be explained in the project launch. I'm not looking to wear anyone out, but do hope to find a source capable of producing more than one pen at a time.
