morse taper?

Hello, All
I am new to pen turning. I got to take a class
at a woodcraft store the other day and really liked
it. My question is my father has an old sears craftsman
lathe 12", the opening in the drive pin and tail pin
are 1/2". What morse taper do I need to fit? Any help
is much appreciated.

Hi Wyatt, welcome to the site. I have #2 M.T. on my lathe and the openings on the drive and tailstock are about 3/4 inch, so I would guess that yours are #1 M.T. Hope this helps.

Welcome Wyatt, welcome to the group. It sounds like you have a #1 Morse Taper, Just like my Old Shop Master circa 1953.
