I have a request for a pen as close to a Mont Blanc fountain pen as possible that uses ink cartridges. Can someone tell me what kit would be suitable? Thank you.

I would use a Jr Gent II, rhodium plated and get an upgraded nib. You can get both from Exotic Blanks. I would use Alt Ebony for the blank and do a double closed end with a hidden clip using the kit clip. I would cut segment some sort of piece onto the end of the cap using white resin of some kind. Something simple but elegant. You can google Mont Blanc and take a look at their pens to get some better ideas.

Most Mont Blanc's are made from black precious resin ie: black plastic with white bird droppings on the top, so a black Jr, gent replace the gold cap insert with a white insert, give it an up grade nib and now you have an upgraded customer made pen...

If you want to replicate its design and weight, you will need to get rid of most of the metal parts.

If your customer wants the nib holder and grip to be similar to most MB's I suspect he would be unhappy with a jr gent. A churchill or el grande done with a turned finial glued into the cap and body showing the gold ring of the clip and body finial but tapering to a rounded point would be a closer match to most MB sections, IMHO.

I was thinking the same thing. Churchill closed end round on top would be the closest thing to it. Very light weight with plastic fittings and a large but thin body, that's the perfect kit for that. Basic boring black.

I need a little more information. I make and sell several MB clones.
It depends on which MB design the customer wants. For the Meisterstuck 149, I make my own closed end from a Designer or European frame. For the 160 series (fatter) Meisterstuck FPs a modified Churchill is close. You can cast your own 3 ring center band and make the look almost identical.
The Starwalker and Boheme models are different animals completely and require much more design effort.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE A COMPONENT SET, LOSE THE DAYACOM NIB! Nothing screams "knock off" like that nib. I recommend the Heritance nib. It writes well, looks very elegent and if you choose to make your own fittings, DCBLUESMAN either has or can get the specialized tap and die sets used to fit these nibs. These taps and dies are a bit pricey (I think I paid about $200 for 2 taps and 2 Dies), but are well worth the investment if you plan to think outside the kit.
