Model car pen box

So I want to make my uncle a pen with his kids' racing numbers on it...thats the easy part! I want to try to make a box that is a top fuel-style drag car that will hold the pen under the hood. Anybody try something similar before?

Tips, hints, or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I've never tried it but I would think starting with a model kit of a funny car would
kind of get you what you want. Black out the windows (reverse paint )
build some sort of bracket to hold the supercharger in place and lay the pen between the frame rails to be exposed when the body is lifted.
