so i turned a one piece slimline with bem today. all went well, by far my favorite wood. I used mm on like i always do, and once i turned off my lathe I noticed some black areas that weren't there before i mm it. Finish was my normal mm thru 12000 and 5 coats high build friction wax. Any ideas? Do i need to move the mm aster when sanding?

I had that happen one time when the sandpaper came in contact with black bushings right next to the blank, and once with normal silver steel bushings. I am not sure if that is the answer, but try to avoid sanding the bushings with the blank.

Didn't think of that. M dark Corina spacers probably made it worse lol. I thought maybe heat buildup cause Ive burned of areas of mm before.
