I fell in love with an art-form called Pen-turning. Back I my place most guys do not know about it.
back in India, and in our Kolkata, it is a Babu Society- a reasonably affluent man buying his personal mini lathe and turning his pens--perhaps a penguin's anatomy is better understood!
I would certainly not give up- so I kept making my enquiries on lathes in the Indiamart.com. I just managed to confuse the vendors about why I need what I am asking for.
I managed to buy some supplies from beartoothwwods.com and PSI and with the PSI shipment worth $175 I had to pay usps another 40 and another 50+ to our customs.
I am actually not crying wolf.
What I am trying to project to my learned fellow members is the same age old story I heard as a child : Bata sends two marketing officers to some country I Africa. One comes back with a report saying -these savages do not wear shoes, let us go elsewhere. The other, says in his report. that he is grateful that they do not wear shoes, there is the whole gamut of untapped market. etc , etc.
Gentlemen, am I able to visualize a huge untapped market. Indians have been taught to eat out at KFC and purchase Sheafers and Cross pens. Why can we not set out tutorials for pen making.
