Milwaukee, WI Area Information

My wife and I are contenplating a move to the Milwaukee area - most likely the suburbs south or west of Milwaukee.

Just looking for advice/recomendations for areas to live and areas to avoid.

Important criteria:
- Good schools (K thru 12)
- Affordable housing ($225k or less for single family home, approx 4BR, 2BA)
- Close to shopping
- Safety

Also, if you have a recommendation for realtors who are accustomed to working with relocations that would be helpful too.

I knew that!!!

I'm dying to see who will find an area that matches his "wants".

Schools are "better" west, cost is lower south, but private school could be worth the cost diff from Waukesha to Cudahy and S. Milw.

After you locate an area (might start with Wittier School area), check on the schools with this reference page. There are other such pages, as well.

In playing with that school site, "Milwaukee" will only give the ones in the city limits---for west of the city, use "Waukesha". South try "Cudahy", South Milwaukee, Oak Creek, Greenfield (farther from the lake & I94)

The south side of Milwaukee is nice (I live in Bayview about 2 miles north of the airport) but the schools are not the greatest. (wife works for the school system)
Cudahy is nice and has good schools. I'll PM you tomorrow with a name of a realtor.

Just stay away from the crazies in Racine. :biggrin:
