Middle TN - Snakewood at WC

I just got back from my local Woodcraft (Franklin, TN) and they had a Snakewood grab box for $5.00/lb. I got about 6 really nice pen blanks for $5.00. There is also a random grab box outside the store with some really nice wood for $2.50/lb

If you hurry there may still be some good pieces that you can mill down to very nice blanks.

Whayne, I've gotten about as nice wooden blanks in their grab box as off their shelves in Franklin. Also if you wait long enough the box out front thats $2.50/lb right now is give away.

yeah, I know. But I just couldn't pass up the figure on some of these pieces. I'll post pics in a 'What is this wood?'

Ok, here are some pics of the wood I picked up today.

Let me know what you think the grab box pieces are. I really can't tell.

Snakewood - Smallest piece is 3/4" x 4". Biggest is 3/4" x 7".

Grab Box - All pieces are 3/4" x 15-17"

This piece is 1" x 6" x 6 3/4"

The bottom piece looks like marblewood, but I don't know about the rest.

That is some top class Snakewood, the figure is awesome! The other pieces of wood will make some lovely pens too![]

Marblewood? Zebra? Bocote? The bottom one does look like Marblewood for sure.
