metal lathe problem - help?

Turned the lathe on and the chuck slammed against the carriage and stopped (this should be in "my dumbest mistake" thread). It popped a breaker, which I reset. Now, it has power (the switch is lit), but no rotation. Is there a reset button somewhere on the motor that I can't find?

The breaker that tripped...is that part of the machine or in your shop?
Mine has glass fuse on the machine that has popped at the same time as tripping the shop breaker. My speed readout still lights up with the internal fuse blown.

Try to always disengage the leadscrew when finished with it.:wink:
 
It's an Enco (generic Chinese). The fuse in the machine didn't blow -- the breaker in the shop did. Can't find a reset button on the motor for the life of me.

If the machine has variable speed, then you may find another fuse on the speed control card. Unfortunately these are most often soldered in place.
I doubt that there is an actual 'reset' button on the machine.
Good luck, and I hope you haven't done any serious damage.
 
Which model Enco is it? 100-0800? 110-0803? Or one of the larger ones?

The wiring diagram for -0800 shows only the one fuse and no overload relay; the manual for -0803 doesn't have a diagram, but it's probably the same arrangement. There *might* be an overload reset button on the variable speed board; worth pulling the cover off to see. Skip's right about the likelihood of a fuse on the variable speed board, though, otherwise the board is probably toast. :-/
