i heard they existed but i never thought i would actually meet one.
i went to check out a lathe for sale.( some of you may have been following my quest for a new lathe.) so i went to check one out at a local community center wood shop. and came across a large empty shop, only one tool was humming away, i wandered down the halls following the sound and came across a small room lined from wall to wall with lathes' and a sole lady intently bringing a pen blank to size and shape. we stuck up a conversation and came on to the IAP, thats when it happened, she confessed to being a lurker, she knew my handle and even my name, she complemented my work and pictures. i encouraged her so sign on and join the fun. i hope she does, but we may never know.
so a message to all turners. check your local shops, check your neighbors garages, check your local schools. there are lurkers everywhere, you may just find one. i did.
