I use to turn Mesa kits (from Woodturningz.com) years ago, but for some reason switched to Gatsby kits. I have a large order coming up and am considering going back to Mesa kits. Any suggestions/comments? Thank you.

I have used several of the Gatsby kits and have never had one to fail. I have also used the Mesa kits as well with the same results.

I've gone away from the Mesa kits.

They work fine but I've found that the plating wears off fairly quickly - several of them in less than a year of use.

Take this for what it's worth, because I have not tried the Mesa kits. However, I started out using the Gatsby kits and switched to the Sierra kits because the transmissions were smoother. YMMV.

I've made and sold many, many Mesa pens. Occasionally you get a bad transmission but that has happened with Gatsby and other Sierra kits. The Mesa kit is great, the company is wonderful.
