I am in Northeast Arkansas. I live 1-/2 hours from Memphis and works takes me to Memphis once or twice a month. But I don't know of any pen turners in Memphis. The person you are referring to could check The Woodworks Store in Memphis. They would likely be able to offer some help. They are a Rockler affiliated store, with good prices and some nice lumber. The sell all types of pen turning stuff, not just the kits Rockler offers.
