My father-in-law recently passed away at age 88. He was a veteran and had a 21 gun salute during his service. I managed to obtain several of the cartridge shells from the blanks that were fired. My thanks to Eric at Little River Crafts for converting these into pen kits (fantastic job by-the-way). My mother-in-law passed away a few years ago. She was an avid bowler right up to the end. I used her bowling ball to make the upper half of these pens.

I made a pen for each of my in-law's three children. I think my wife really appreciates hers.

Very Nice. The VFW post I sound TAPS for (at Funerals) collects all the spent cartridge casings and presents the 21 casings to the Widow of the Deceased Veteran so no extras are available to make into pens but the Widow still gets the cartridge casings. I really do like the idea and will keep it in mind for future use
