I found an article where a man said he hooked up a kitchen range hood (exhaust and light) above his lathe and ran some duct work from the hood through a wall. Sounds neat to me but I would like some other opinions please. Thank you
It may work but (I think) very inefficiently. You will need so much more CFM because it will be working against gravity. Distance between that and the piece will most likely be a lot more too.
I agree with the above comments about efficiency, BUT, the hood part is good. Most heating and AC repair places have squirrel cage fans out of old units for a few $$$, or free. Installing one of those in the duct would probably work good. Lots of us flat woodworkers use them to make air cleaners.
