He wandered into the shop and followed me everywhere. I told my wife about him and she petted him. Thought he must be hungry and thirsty. Very very thin she said. So, she got a little bit of tuna and water for him. She thinks he is about 2 months old. We live on the very edge of town, behind us are woods and a creek. Must have drifted in from there? Karen put a box with a blanket on the back porch for him. He'll have to be an outdoor cat. She is allergic but said it's okay in the shop. If he sticks around I'll name him Sawdust.

I've been in your position. Back in 2012, someone dropped off a male kitten by our house probably 6 wks old. The kitten was following our yorkie around trying to nurse off him. Lol Of course we gave him some food and water. I don't like cats in the house because of hair, so of course I built him a house. He turned out to be a hell of hunter which was nice. He has always followed me around like a dog. He has slowed down some as he's about 11 1/2 yrs old now.

Sawdust. I like it. If I get a cat or dog might name it Chisel or Turner

Cute. FWIW: A friend has had show dogs for years. He recommends not having a collar indoors. Could get hung up and choke the dog or cat. We quit when one of our dogs got his dewclaw caught in the split ring for his ID tag and rabies tag.

I have indoor cats. I have read that a blanket is not best for an outdoor cat enclosure, apparently can trap moisture and make the cat cold. The claim is that straw is better.

My cats house is 2 story. Inside he has a cat bed where he sleeps and a fuzzy blanket on his second story balcony where he lays once in a while. Lol

We got my son a cat when he was 3. Eleven years later he still enjoys stealing the rubber bands out of my shop, chewing on everything made of foam, occupying my work station chair the second I get up, and playing with the feathers I sort out when making blanks.
He's like having another child around. 🫣

Great advice. My cats are indoor only. No need for them to have collars. My dog only wears (harness) not a collar when we go for a walk. In the house she doesn't wear it and she has free reign of the house. Super well behaved and smart.
