Hi All,

Ever since I got the HiTorque 8.5x16 lathe from Littlle Machine Shop I have wanted the 3960 mini mill from them. They had a super sale on the mill so I bit the bullet and jumped right in. I have got it set up and even made a small brass hammer just to check everything out. I seems to be o.k. with just the playing around. Will comment more on it later.

I have the Sieg version of the mill Ben, (near enough identical looking at your picture)

Its a great machine and ive made all sorts using it, but beware... I think you may have a plastic drive gear on it. if it jams a few times it will strip the teeth off it.

You may find this an interesting watch. it would also give you some extra speed ranges

Congrats! I always say a metal lathe gets lonely without a mill after awhile. A whole new set of tooling to buy now.

Ah! my mistake :smile: In that case, Enjoy your new toy - much fun to be had

Cant help but get flash backs after reading Mikes comment though :rolleyes: The amount of tooling which goes with a mill feels untrue lol

I was very lucky. Most of the tooling I have came with the mill. I've bought a few things but not much fortunately. Best part was, I sold my X2 mini mill for more than I paid for the 8x30. Yes, that was a drive by gloat, sorry:biggrin:

Was very lucky indeed! and everyones allowed to gloat once in a while. These are in my pipe dream.. Still have plenty of waiting to do before i own these... but never the less, one day, i will :rolleyes:

Well, you know I think the lathe is the perfect choice. Of course I'm biased because that's my lathe with a different name on it:biggrin: I don't even want to think what that mill would cost, but it sure is purty.

yep, just love everything about Turrent mills.
The way the head doesn't lower, the bed raises with the crank handle.

The big swarf / coolant tray underneith, automatic feeds, DRO, belt gears....

just fantastic to work with... When i worked as an engineer i used to operate a bridgeport which was the same style mill as this... brilliant machine. need an engine crane to move it though lol.
